Sick Deutsch

#ThisIsACoup

The recent interview with Yanis Varoufakis finally revealed what we had all been suspecting. Greece was never really negotiating against the European Union. This was always a fight between Germany and Greece, with the rest of the EU just observing. These two nations, which couldn’t be more different, tragically ended up in a currency union that was destined to fail from the beginning. And the outrageous terms of these negotiations weren’t really about economics or finance. They were about Germany’s desire to impose its sadistic values on the rest of Europe. Schaeuble, Merkel, and the whole bunch never wanted Greece to recover. They wanted Greece to be vassal state. They are perfectly happy the let Greece completely collapse and drown its citizens with misery and destitution. No amount of suffering will ever be “enough” to pay for the original Greek sin of trying to enjoy life bailing out its banks. The terms of the latest agreement have made this abundantly clear. These negotiations have revealed attitudes of German racial-superiority unseen since the rally at Nuremburg.

After all, Greece is a tiny country that represents just a fraction of EU GDP. Why all the high stakes drama, cliff-hanging negotiations, and press coverage over such a small country? The actual amounts of money at stake here are so small that they would probably be ignored in any other context. But of course, money isn’t the actual point. The point is for Germany make a demonstration out of Greece and impose its crushing will upon a weaker state as it has done so many times in the past.

It’s almost to the point the international community needs to decide what to do with Germany. Re-unification looks more and more like a mistake with each passing day. After all, these people have proven time and again, 3 times within the last century alone, that they are a menace to human civilization. The Germans have within them a pernicious strain of sadism that can easily morph and express itself in different ways. After WWI, we told them not to build a military, but they did it anyway. After WWII, we actually took away their military—yet the Germans found other ways to destroy their neighbors, this time through economic and financial means.

The Europeans have never really dealt with this issue, much like how the US never dealt with the Confederacy. Instead of crushing the Confederacy, jailing all its leaders, and eliminating the states that rebelled, the US let the Confederate states back in the Union on very few terms (and even those terms were effectively abandoned with the end of Reconstruction). This allowed the Confederate identity to survive under the radar for the next 150 years. As events in the last month have demonstrated to the rest of the country, the Confederate identity is alive and well.  But while Confederate flags may be finally coming down over here, the swastikas are going back up on the other side of the Atlantic. Neville Chamberlaine is deservedly mocked for his appeasement strategy back in 1937. This time, Germany isnt merely being appeased--its is being allowed to dictate the fates of the peripheral states of Europe.

The lesson here, that we are learning for the third and hopefully final time, is that Germanic sadism is nearly impossible to constrain or manage. The international community has to wake up and acknowledge the danger that Germanic identity presents to human civilization and deal it once and for all.

GOOD POINT!

I'd like to see them stripped of the current rents they are receiving via their "high end" auto sales in the US.... maybe the millennials will look at all of this and go on a buyers strike against the German product....

IMO Germany is trying to build up the situation to force a Grexit AND/OR get political cover for a Gerxit, or undo the euro.

The problem is a superiority complex that manifests a a feeling of supremacy and belief in exceptionalism. Germany is not the only countries with these characteristics, and wherever they gain the upper ground they are destructive and end up destroying that country, too.

German bashing won't help anything, no matter how tempting it may be. The issue is NOT German venality, but rather the sad credulousness of the German electorate. I have been corresponding with a German friend, who really believes that all that has been done by his Government is for the Greeks own benefit -- "we will give them money if only they reform." He cannot even see that he has a bad case of "White Man's Burden," and he desperately want to keep the EURO around, because it is part of his dream of pan-European peace and solidarity. Point out to him that Schaeuble admitted to $100,000 from an arms company through Karl-Heinz Schreiber, German-Canadian fraudster extraodinaire, and he says, "well, I don't like Schaeuble, but there is still too much corruption in Greece. One fault does not excuse another." I tried to explain to him about the sectoral balances and the paradox of thrift, but he cannot get by his ordo-liberal indoctrination. The Germans are well meaning -- it is only their government which is fascist.

Which just about says it all. Democracy is lame without an electorate understanding why human societies have money, the way it's created and how it can be put to use, especially to meet the basic needs of all members of the electorate.

I don't think germans are bad people but they have been infected by ordoliberalism loser philosophy and really bad economics. They also have this character that won't allow questioning their corrupt leaders until it's too late. Tto be fair this is not only on them, but when mixed with moralizing impractical policy you get this mess.

I don't want to compare Germany to Cartago, but they should leave the euro and suffer through their own ideological garbage. Maybe tjen they can be cured of that virus.

This is exactly the problem with people that have a superiority complex, be they Germans or Americans, or Brits, or French, or whatever. Because they see themselves and their way as superior, they have a penchant for reforming others. It's like religious fanaticism about saving others by converting them. Same sick syndrome.

It's endemic in neoliberalism and neoconservatism and it justifies American interventions around the world and US hegemony itself. Germany is just a little hegemon in Europe.

The German people are on board with it, just as the American people are on board with US policy. It's the paternalism of wanting to "share our blessings" by making others in our image. Sicko.

Both countries are sick. Of course, they are not alone, but they are major players now so it concerns a lot of people presently who the target of ideological conversion.

This is the thrust of the multipolarism being championed by Putin and embraced by BRICS. So Putin must be demonized and BRICS marginalized.

Historically, the Right has always adopted as SOP the suppression of the Left and the imprisonment or extermination of its leaders, and the overthrow of Leftist governments that may come to power. When the Left attempts to defend itself, the Right starts shouting that the Left is being repressive.

The objective of the Right is globalization on its terms, where the Left is excluded from the global system. Nothing new to see here.

The Germans are well meaning -- it is only their government which is fascist.

As Osama Bin Laden wrote in at open letter to the American people some time ago, if Americans don't stand up and oppose the actions of the US government against Muslim peoples, then the conclusion is that the American public is complicit and a fair target.

The world held the German people responsible for the Nazis. After all, Hitler was not only democratically elected but immensely popular. No one doubts that the world would now being living under Nazi rule if Hitler had been successfully and the German people would be crediting themselves for their superiority.

The Americans are doing this now, and Germans are starting to do it again. Not all, of course. There is push back. But just as neoliberalism and neoconservatism rule in US politics, so too Merkel is not yet in danger of losing her position.

I don't write this off to ignorance in the case of either the Germans or the Americans. These people have an inherent collective character flaw that makes them dangerous. They both believe in the depths of their being that they have the right and destiny to rule.

Doesn't this apply to pretty much everyone though? People think their views are correct and convert others. Arguably even MMT.
Plus, if I say I am superior this does not make me so. The problem lies as much the other way round I.e. the Greeks think they must submit to the Germans.

Yes, exactly, there is a pathology in the culture itself, and it infects everyone in it to one extent or another. But "white" people generally, as the bearers of the technologically superior culyure, have this superiority complex. Hence the "civilizing mission" that has characterized European and American attitudes in relation to "less developed" cultures. It's the inheritance of the "Enlightenment" and of the greed and predation that was behind all the colonizing initiatives beginning with the Spanish conquests and extending all the way to our day. "The more it changes, the more it's the same thing." The more "developed" the country, the greater its hubris.

In Hindu terms, it is an aspect of the spirit of the Kali Yuga, which works to dissolve all normal order prior to the final dissolution of this human age. What is technological know-how in one sense is more deeply the frank materialism necessary for the development of the inferior possibilities that formerly were latent in favor of superior spiritual possibilities. It is the time of gross illusions and spiritual impotence. "Whom the gods would destroy they first make mad." "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" The last thing that characterizes the activity of men in our "culture" is "seeking first the kingdom of heaven." The whole world is headed for very difficult times.

James all of that was part of a global search and destroy to obtain more of the metals... especially the Spanish... we're past that now... in some sort of transition phase...

Many people still in the "metals" paradigm... (libertarians)

We get a few qualified people in some key positions and all of this could move forward very quickly... YV was a 'strike one'.... there will probably be other opportunities...

Matt not only "metals" mentality, is Malthusian mentality really. Metal mentality is just the material way this mentality is substantiated: "we have to suffer on earth for our sins", "we don't have enough resources for everybody" (certainly not to live in McMansions, but enough to provide everyone with a decent living), social darwinism, ordoliberalism, "government is like a household" an all that GARBAGE brain-infecting parasite that blocks the cognitive capabilities of the people being infected by this social-parasite meme.

A big pat of humanity is infected with this parasite and is a civilization-killing race-to-the-bottom parasite.

Now it is oil and other vital resources instead, and colonialism has morphed into neocolonialism.

Tom I agree that the racial superiority thing still is within some people and leads them periodically to destructiveness, is not just Germany but is more frequent there yes.

Be ware that Germans have been "metal lovers" historically, this lead them to two world wards to expand and conquer the necessary resources to keep growing. Their Lebensraum now is economical, thought export powerhouses and financial institutions.

It's possible Germany is to Europe, nowadays, what Cartago was to Rome, and ultimately it will be one or the other. But maybe they just have to suffer a bit through their own ideology a bit to change manners without cheating using dictatorial institutions like the EU and the ECB to keep their absurd economic regime. This could backfire though an they will end up getting a jingoist or a fascist in power, as they are so accustomed to in the last centuries.

It's a shame, as Germany was an exemplary nation to follow in the 60's even up to the 90's with leading social-democratic model. That they have been brain-effected again due to the unification and not being able to solve their own internal lack of demand is sad to see.
