Alexrpt — Merkel scrambles to Serbia and Albania trying to make the “dead man walking” EU larger

Chancellor Angela Merkel is touring the Balkans and trying to speed up the EU entry of both Serbia and Albania in order to stop Russian influence in the region and strengthen Germany's grip a region they destroyed in the 1990's.
What could go wrong?

Countries still want to join this clown show run by sadists? Actually, the bottom line reason is that a lot people want to bail on these basket cases and emigrate to greener pastures. Which is a big reason that  rightist parties that are nationalist anti-immigrant are doing so well in the core. Sort of like leaving the farm of the big city, or maybe leaving a collapsing structure for relative safety.

Meanwhile in Russia, the "get out the volunteers" effort isn't going so well. Europe and Russia could of course just stop and agree to leave neutral countries in between.

Different perspective. Important to read all sides. Russians aren't going to advertise their problems. Same reason why we have to go to China, India and Russia to get information about the United States...

Jus' sayin' the Ukrainians have been notoriously unreliable in their reporting, and they've been putting this stuff out for some time with no evidence.

Knowledgeable Europeans just shake their heads at the stuff that Poroshenko and Yatsenyuk have been telling the US about Russian involvement. Even OSCE is compromised.

Lots of reporting of Russian troops and equipment and no evidence, and lots of evidence of war crimes against the separatist regions and no reporting, or the reporting says that the separatists did to themselves.

Much fog of war and propaganda but there are some credible sources. Graham W Phillips @GrahamWP_UK is a reporter on the ground in Donbass, for example, Saker is a reliable source overall too.
