"The final 45 years of the Anglo-Saxon Empire" - William Engdahl interviewed by Gazprom magazine

In March of this year, I literally by a week missed the author of the remarkable book "A Century of War", William Engdahl, which I have talked about in my old blog, before its release by the publisher "Selado" in a paper version.

However, despite I was unable to personally meet with William Engdahl - I still managed to arrange an exclusive interview of Engdahl with "Gazprom" magazine, recorded by the editor-in-chief, Sergey Pravosudov.

I hope the perspective of one of the classics of modern geopolitical journalism will help you understand the eternal "springs" of geopolitics and geo-economics, and to draw conclusions about those sudden changes of the world order, on the threshold of which we stand.

For me, the interview with William Engdahl is interesting, because he is a known critic of the theory of "peak oil", which I personally think is quite reasonable and visibly influences global processes.

The more interesting is that having some diametrically opposed assumptions, Engdahl comes to very similar, and even identical conclusions about the future of global processes.
Interesting economic history but out of paradigm with MMT regarding public debt, although conventional thinking likely proceeded in the way Engdahl describes.

If he ever had any credibility, Engdahl lost whatever was left some time ago, when he claimed that the US overthrew their darling dictator Hosni Mubarak!

It was clear throughout that the US was backing him to the bitter end. The US undermined the democratically elected (and completely incompetent) Muslim Brotherhood government at every turn. Things are now peachy: a military dictatorship after a farcical, corrupt general election. In what way is Sisi different to Mubarak. Perhaps he doesn't dye his hair.

As for the empire starting to fall apart, in 1945 the US economy constituted half global GDP. Inevitably, that has started to contract, and it won't be long before it dips below 20%. Its military alliances are starting to fray, as its "allies" wonder about US sanity regarding Russia and China. If the ruling Al-Saud family falls, that's the end of the empire. If the US invades, the empire will be mired forever in an endless war. If it allows the Al-Saud family to fall, it's petrodollar strategy falls with it.

The Republican party is totally deranged and getting more deranged by the minute. Meanwhile, major US cities crumble before our eyes and an increasing number of the population is left in near misery. It's quite amazing. In real time, we are witnessing the most prosperous country in history devour itself because a few very powerful interest groups have taken charge.

The situation is not only shocking but extremely dangerous.
