Benjamin Bidder — Russian Far-Right Idol: The Man Who Started the War in Ukraine

Reasonably accurate portrayal of some aspects of a complex figure.

I would not use "far-right" to characterize Strelkov (Igor Girkin) without pointing out that "far right" has a very different meaning in Russia that it does in Europe and America. In Europe, far right means fascist or Nazi. In the US it means economic liberal (Libertarian), on one hand, and fascist or Nazi, on the other. In Russia, it means extreme nationalist or monarchist.

It's probably a bit much to say that Strelkov "started" the war in Ukraine, although he was played the role of catalyst for it.

Ralph, I agree that the "far-right" parties in Europe and the UK are not made up entirely or even mostly of fascists or neo-Nazis, but they attract them and by not denouncing them publicly, they get associated with them.
