Steven D — Megadrought is Coming to America

A recent research article published in the online journal Science Advances by 2050 major portions of the Southwestern and Great Plains states will suffer from droughts much, much worse than the ones we have seen over the last 15 years.…
We are talking about extreme drought conditions that will extend from the Mississippi River to California that will last for thirty, forty or more years, literally leave our highly populated, water dependent society in uncharted territory, threatening our civilization's ability to adapt to what will be a radically altered future environment.…

Anti-Western sentiment hits record high in Russia
The latest Levada Poll has come out in Russia. BTW, Levada is considered by all as an independent polling institution that polls on tough topics and is rigorous regarding their percentages.
It's no surprise to see that "anti-Western sentiment" has record highs across Russia today. Not only the Russian Federal government, but Russian citizens throughout the country are deeply worried about the intentions of the U.S., NATO, and European nations that have unleashed devastating sanctions and tried to isolate Russia from the world community.…
As many as 81 percent of Russians regard the USA negatively, according to a recent survey carried out by independent pollster Levada Centre (http://bit.ly/1y4qWwe).
Negative sentiments reached a peak in January 2015 after a steady rise in 2013 and 2014, the poll suggested. Only 13 percent of Russians said they viewed the USA positively.
It is so sad to realize that in 1990, just 25 short years ago, Russians respected us and wanted to be like Americans more than any people on earth.
If the US had acted toward Russia after the break up of the USSR as it did toward Germany and Japan, Russia would likely be a staunch ally now instead of a potential enemy. What a colossal blunder, the consequences of which are still unfolding and probably will for many years unless cooler heads than the neocons and their ilk prevail.

Might be time to spend some money on water infrastructure projects. Population has about doubled since the 50s and its been at least 40 years or more since any significant projects were undertaken. It's time.

Would be nice if the US did at least that, but.…

That is a very frightening thought, particularly since our political and business leaders seemed to be doing their best to ignore or deny the existence of this threat. If we want our children and grandchildren to have any kind of hope for a sustainable future, one that does not risk total societal collapse, we need to change the way in which our nation currently functions at all levels. Political goals, economic policy and cultural valuers all must change, and that change cannot come soon enough. The current devastation and economic disruption caused by the droughts out West are just a taste of what is to come.
